Szczecin Classic 2022! 

Szczecin Classic is a unique chamber music festival which apart from promoting classical music through concerts, has also a strong educational mission. The international music course gives students and recent graduates of music colleges from Poland and Europe the opportunity to work alongside top professors and performers giving them an insight of how to work at the very highest professional level. Until now, over 110 students took part on the course. In addition to the opportunities made available to its participating musicians, the festival primary goal is to give Szczecin audiences the possibility to attend world-class concerts in their own town as well as creating and engaging new audiences through interesting and unusual programming. These aims are achieved by combining concert repertoire with new and engaging ways of presentation through outreach projects offered by Szczecin Classic for the general public during the festival These include: gymnastic with classical music in the park, musical happenings in the city center, dance lessons, open lectures for young artists, thematic workshops, or a Stradivarius violin show from a London violin workshop. Szczecin Classic attempts to present classical music in a light, delicate and completely different way distancing itself from a serious approach to classical music among the general public. A spirit of fun and playfulness in classes was a characteristic theme of the first edition of the festival, which was organised under the slogan “We play Classy,” and this remains a core principle of the festival as it looks towards its fourth edition. By jumping around the festival fields, located both in front of the entrance to the concert venues and in the city centre, the participants could take part in competitions, get tickets and – most importantly – have fun!

The fourth edition of the Festival, which will take place on April 26 – May 3, 2022, we expanded the group of artists with the invitation to the concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic – Daniel Stabrawa and the leader of the Szymanowski quartet – Agata Szymczewska. As part of the project, a competition for ensemble in residence of a chamber ensemble in the beginning of the career is also announced. Apart from a financial prize, the ensemble will also participate in the course, and perform an original concert broadcast live by Polish Radio and through an internet stream during their residency. In 2021, the winner-resident was the Arion Piano Trio – a piano trio from Berlin (UDK), and in 2020 the Al Pari Quartet from the Academy of Music in Katowice.
