Szczecin Classic

Szczecin Classic is the largest classical music festival in Western Pomerania and has been a key fixture on the region’s cultural map since 2019. In the spring of 2026, from April 15 to May 4, the festival will return for its eighth edition under the theme “Infinity.”

This year’s theme reflects the idea of music as a timeless art form—one that endures and transcends the boundaries of eras, styles, and aesthetics. “Infinity” also symbolizes the dialogue between experience and youth, between masters and artists at the beginning of their creative journeys.

A core element of the festival is its educational programme, the Szczecin Classic Academy, which each year attracts young musicians from Poland, Germany, Malta, Portugal, and across Europe. Intensive workshops are combined with public performances, concerts, and open events, allowing the festival to extend beyond traditional concert halls and into the city itself. The 2026 edition will also include accompanying concerts in Germany, further emphasizing the festival’s international scope.

The programme will also feature the second edition of the Composers’ Symposium, dedicated to young composers interested in contemporary music and in developing their own artistic voice. The symposium will be led by distinguished composers Karl Fiorini and Ignacy Zalewski, in collaboration with the renowned Neuma Quartet. Participants will take part in intensive workshops, working on their string quartet compositions through daily individual and group sessions. Each composer will have the opportunity to discuss their ideas and techniques with experienced composers and performing musicians. The symposium will conclude with a composers’ concert, during which selected works will be publicly performed by the ensemble in residence. Applications are open until January 30, 2026; further details can be found in the “Composers’ Symposium” section.

The festival is organized by the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra Association.

A chamber ensemble residency competition has also been announced. The ensemble selected as ensemble-in-residence will take part in the course, present an original concert, and receive a prize of PLN 10,000.

Applications for the chamber ensemble residency competition are open until February 8, 2026.
