Szczecin Classic
Szczecin Classic is the largest classical music festival in West Pomerania, held annually since 2019.
Prestigious and highly acclaimed, it has become a permanent fixture in the cultural calendar of Szczecin, Poland, and even Europe. Taking place during the vibrant “Majowka” period, a festive period in Polish calendars, the festival attracts not only devoted classical music enthusiasts but also young, talented musicians from around the world who participate in the Szczecin Classic Academy music course.
This year’s edition is organized in collaboration with partners from Malta, Spain, Portugal, and Germany. This international cooperation creates a unique space for emerging artists to explore new artistic dimensions in performance, composition, and creative expression, fostering the development of their individual artistic identities.
The festival program includes performances by some of the most outstanding artists from Poland, Europe, and beyond. Alongside concerts, there will be events happening throughout the city, interactive happenings, meetings, and workshops. Additionally, the festival will feature a chamber ensemble residency competition and a symposium for young composers.
By carefully curating its repertoire and selecting diverse concert venues, Szczecin Classic strengthens its bond with the local audience while continuously attracting new listeners. The festival’s engaging format goes beyond traditional evening concerts, whether chamber or orchestral, by incorporating accompanying events that make classical music more accessible. Highlights include musical happenings in the city center, dance lessons, open lectures for aspiring artists, and thematic workshops under the banner of “Maltówka.”
This year’s edition of the festival will take place from April 27 to May 3, 2025. Alongside a lineup of exceptional artists, it will feature a Stradivarius violin, bringing an extraordinary element to the event. A chamber ensemble residency competition will also be announced, and the ensemble with the highest score will be awarded the title of Resident Ensemble. The winners will participate in the festival course, perform an original concert, and receive a prize of 10,000 PLN. Applications for the competition will be accepted until February 28, 2025.
The festival will also include a symposium for composers, led by renowned composer Karl Fiorini and the distinguished Neuma Quartet. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in individual consultations with professionals, discussing techniques and ideas to further develop their craft. Applications for the symposium are open until February 28, 2025.
Szczecin Classic is organized by the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra Association, based in Szczecin. For further details, please refer to the official regulations and the information page for the Composers’ Symposium.
