Andriy Viytovych

Professor at the Royal College of Music in London.

Born in Ukraine, Andriy Viytovych studied at the Conservatory in Lviv (Ukraine) and the International Menuhin Music Academy (Switzerland). His main inspirations were Alberto Lysy and Johannes Eskaer, his teachers and colleagues in orchestral and chamber recordings. With Camerata Lysy, Viytovych performed in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ukraine, France, and Argentina.

In 1996 the artist arrived in London and joined the London Symphony Orchestra as principal violist. He also played as principal violist in many orchestras, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, English Sinfonia, London Sinfonietta, and London Symphony Orchestra, collaborating with artists such as Mstislav Rostropovich, Pierre Boulez, Sir Georg Solti, Sir Colin Davis, and Bernard Haitink.

Viytovych’s enthusiasm for chamber music led him to collaborate with ensembles such as Camerata Lysy, London Symphony Chamber Players, Razumovsky Ensemble, and Covent Garden Soloists. In 2000 Andriy Viytovych became principal violist of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden. He was also professor of viola at the Royal College of Music in London.

Since 2020 he has been active as a performer in Valencia, with the Orquesta de la Comunidad Valenciana (OCV) as solo violist.
