Janusz Widzyk

Double bassist of the Berlin Philharmonic.
He studied under the guidance of outstanding double bass pedagogues such as Bonawentura Nancka, Czesław Ząbek, Veit-Peter Schüßler, Franco Petracchi, as well as cellists Monique Bartels, Boris Pergamenschikow and Heidi Litschauer.
He won first prize at the CIEM International Music Competition in Geneva in 1998. Since 2001 he has been a double bassist of the Berliner Philharmoniker. He leads the double bass class at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. Previously, he was professor of double bass at the Academy of Music in Cologne, the Academy of Art in Szczecin, and a docent at the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic.
Additionally, he is an active chamber musician and soloist. In 2019 he obtained the title of Doctor of Musical Arts at the Academy of Music in Kraków. In his free time, he devotes himself to the art of photography.
