Janusz Widzyk

 

 


Janusz Widzyk, double bassist, studied under the supervision of excellent double bass pedagogues such as Bonaventura Nanck, Czeslaw Ząbek, Veit-Peter Schüßler, Franco Petracchi and cellists Monique Bartels, Boris Pergamenschikow, Heidi Litschauer.

He won first place at the CIEM international music competition in Geneva in 1998, and has been a double bassist with the Berliner Philharmoniker orchestra since 2001. He teaches a double bass class at Berlin's Hochschule für Musik Hanns

Eisler and at the Academy of Art in Szczecin. Previously, he was Professor of Double Bass at the Academy of Music in Cologne, Germany, and Docent of the Karajan-Akademie at the Berliner Philharmoniker. In addition, he is an active chamber musician and soloist.

In 2019, he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Academy of Music in Krakow. In his spare time he devotes himself to the art of photography.
